A Redesign of an Older Part:
I recently redesigned the lock up retainer that we use to operate the second stage of our centrifically acutated lock up clutch hat for the Pro Fuel bikes. Previoulsy I had made these from 4140 steel as the fingers would wear the contact area of the retainer. The redesign of the retainer allows carbide pads to be installed in the wear area much like the pressure plate is done. This completely eliminates the wear of the retainer. That being said, with the carbide pads being added there was no need for a steel retainer, so I switched to 7075 Aluminum. This keeps the strength and reduces weight as well as extending the life of the retainer. JV
