To D.C. and back on Veterans Day

After several attempts to make the trip to D.C. with aging Veterans, I finally was selected to serve as a "Guardian" on the 2021 Triad Honor Flight to honor some of our nations greatest heros. A guardian is assigned a Veteran in which to care for during the duration of the event. Although I could have gone as one of the Veterans, I elected to go as Guardian to assist other Veterans that would need assistance to make the trip. Every honored Veteran had a Guardian. The list is long and qualifications to be a Guardian are set high. My assigned Veteran was a Purple Heart - Bronze Star Vietnam Vet.  There were Veterans from the Korean war and WWII as well (5). It was a great day all the way around and something that I was honored to do. JV
